What to Expect
Choosing a new school is a big decision.
While every family's journey is different, there are a few experiences that almost every new Acton family shares.
A Different Kind of Beginning
During the enrollment process, you'll have the opportunity to read and discuss our Parent Agreement.
We don't expect every family to be the right fit for Acton Academy Lakewood. Our goal isn't to convince you to choose us. It's to help you decide whether this is the right environment for your child and your family.
When families and school begin with shared expectations, children thrive.
Your Child Will Surprise You
One day, your child will come home with a challenge they need to solve themselves. It might be a disagreement with a friend. A difficult project. A commitment they forgot to keep. Or frustration that comes with learning something hard.
These moments aren't setbacks. They're some of the most important opportunities for growth.
Instead of stepping in immediately—even when your child asks you to—you may be surprised by what happens when caring adults encourage children to solve problems for themselves.
Many parents tell us that somewhere along the way they begin seeing their child differently—not because their child has changed overnight, but because they've discovered strengths they hadn't yet seen.
Growth Looks Different
At first, greater responsibility can feel unfamiliar.
Children are trusted with meaningful work. They're expected to keep commitments. They solve real problems. They earn greater freedom over time.
It isn't always easy. Responsibility comes first. Greater freedom follows.
Over time, many learners begin to carry that same confidence and responsibility home.
School and Home Work Together
One of the unexpected benefits many families notice is having more time to simply be a family.
There isn't nightly homework competing for family time. Parents aren't expected to manage every assignment.
Instead, school and home each have an important role—and they work best together.
Our Hope
Our hope is that your child leaves each year more capable than when they began.
That's the journey we're honored to be part of.
